ABOUT ME

My name is Kellen, and I'm a 22-year old graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where I got my BA in English and now work. During my time in undergrad, I was involved in several literary organizations. I was the nonfiction editor and the Editor-in-chief of Inner Weather, the student-run literary magazine at UNI. I also read and edited for the North American Review, the nation's oldest lit mag; that includes reading for the Kurt Vonnegut Speculative Fiction Prize, the James Hearst Poetry Prize, and submissions for both print and digital publications, both of which I edited for. Finally, I completed an Honor's Program Thesis, in which I studied the narratives of superhero fiction in order to inform my own creative piece, which can be seen in part in my portfolio.

Currently, I work for the UNI Graduate College, where I primarily operate social media accounts, create Grad Source—the newsletter for current graduate students—and edit/review dissertations from Doctoral students and theses from Master's students.

As a creative writer myself, I understand the processes and challenges associated with communication. Knowing what to write and writing it as well as possible is my passion in life, and I'm here to help you do it, too. From all of my experience I've come to believe that editing is a collaborative process between editor and author; that way you can focus on your content and I can focus on helping you perfect it.
